Root canal therapy

Kintsugi thinking: the tooth worth saving, saved.

When decay or trauma lets infection reach the nerve of a tooth, the choice is usually root canal therapy or extraction. Wherever the tooth can be saved, we prefer to save it.

Root canal treatment removes the infected pulp from inside the tooth, cleans and seals the canals, and restores the tooth — usually with a filling, and often with a crown for long-term strength, crafted at our own laboratory. Local anaesthetic keeps the procedure comfortable; for anxious patients, sedation options are available at Glenferrie and Purity.

A root-canal-treated tooth, properly restored, can serve you for many years — and keeps the natural root in the bone, avoiding the ripple effects of a missing tooth.
