Sleep apnoea & snoring

Better nights start with an assessment — available at Purity Dental.

Snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea occur when the airway narrows or collapses during sleep — disturbing rest, straining the heart, and leaving you exhausted by mid-afternoon. Dentistry has a genuine role here: for suitable patients, a custom oral appliance worn at night repositions the lower jaw to help keep the airway open.

At Purity Dental, assessment begins with your symptoms, your sleep history and an examination of your airway, jaw and bite — coordinated with your GP or a sleep physician where a formal sleep study is needed. Appliances are custom-made, comfortable, silent and portable: for many snorers and mild-to-moderate apnoea patients, a genuine alternative to CPAP.

Signs worth assessing

  • Loud, persistent snoring
  • Waking unrefreshed; daytime sleepiness
  • Witnessed pauses in breathing
  • Morning headaches or dry mouth

Sleep apnoea is a medical condition; diagnosis may require a sleep study arranged with your GP or a sleep physician. Oral appliance therapy suits some, not all, patients.
