Our Story

A reason for being.
A reason to smile.

Why a Melbourne dental group carries a Japanese word.

Ikigai (ee-kee-guy) is the reason you get up in the morning. For us, it’s the quiet satisfaction of dentistry done properly: clinicians and ceramists doing work they love, at a standard they’re proud of, for the communities that need it.

The group is unusual in Australian dentistry: three clinics and a boutique ceramics laboratory in the same family. A crown designed chairside in Hawthorn is crafted by our own senior ceramist a few minutes away — clinician and craftsman working as one. That vertical intimacy is our real point of difference.

Four values from craft tradition.

Shokunin

Mastery

The craftsman’s obligation to do the work properly — whether or not anyone is watching.

Omotenashi

Hospitality

Anticipating what you need before you ask. Warmth without fuss.

Kaizen

Improvement

Small, continuous refinement — of technique, systems and ourselves.

Kintsugi

Restoration

Repairing with gold: restoring what was broken into something worth being proud of.
